Description
Bioengineering is based on the application of engineering principles to biological systems. Scientists in this field either attempt to mimic biological systems to create specific products or strive to create, modify and control of biological systems to replace, augment or sustain chemical or mechanical processes. Examples of work done in the field involve genetic modification, bioprocess engineering, biocatalysis, biomimetics and bioinformatics.
