Description
Complexation is the process of formation of a coordination complex from a coordinating atom or ion and a set of ligands. Complexation is used to produce a variety of organometallic coordination compounds that are used as catalysts in organic chemistry and as pharmaceutical agents. Analytical chemistry utilizes the formation of colored coordination compounds to perform quantitative analysis. This process is also applied in medicine to remove heavy metal ions from an organism.
