Description

The intergumentary systems is comprised of skin and its appendages including hair, nails, feathers and hooves. It serves to protect, waterproof and cushion all deeper tissues, facilitates the regulation of body temperature and excretion of waste, and works as an attachment sight for sensory receptors that detect pain, pressure ant temperature. Research on intergumentary systems is performed by dermatologists and is mostly of medical and surgical origin but also includes cosmetics.
