Precipitation

Description

Precipitation is the process of creation of a solid in a solution during a chemical reaction. Precipitated material can be easily removed from a solution by simple decantation or filtration. While extremely fine precipitate tends to clog filters, it is often easily removed using a centrifuge. This makes precipitation a favorable method of product isolation in most branches of chemistry. Precipitation of a solid can also occur in an another solid by diffusion
